Summer Time and the Stitchin’ is slow!!!

Monday, August 4th, 2008

I’m feelin’ hot hot hot!  Stitching is simply not something that can be done in hot weather. Unless you want dirty smudges and smears all over the cloth.  So it has been pretty slow going.  Here is what I have finished since my last post.

The tomato decorative kitchen towel

Tomato Decorative Dish Towel

Then I began a kit - From Golden Bee a stamped cross stitch called Love Me, Love My Cat - finished size 14X14″

Love My Cat - Beginning   all those little stamped x’s are making me dizzy.

Finished Love MY Cat And the finished product!  This took me approx 38 hours to complete. Soon to be added to the Finished Cross Stitch page.

The following is another kit I was hired to make.  “Friends are life’s greatest gifts.”

Friend Cross Stitch- beginning Here we are 30+ hours into the project  Friend Cross Stitch -still working

Where have I been?

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Seriously?  I haven’t blogged in over 2 months?? Where does the time go.  I could have sworn it had only been a couple of weeks.  Although now that I look back, I did manage to finish those Tomato Dish Towels.  Oh, they took forever! Now I remember why I would reallly like to charge more for the dish towels - but I know I’ll never get it, plus I do so enjoy seeing them hanging in other homes!

I also started a Stamped Cross Stitch ‘Love me, Love my cat.”  I haven’t done a stamped project in ages - probably since my late teens/college days. (we won’t go into how many years that is!)

I was also just hired to complete a cross stitch for a customer.  I’ll post pics shortly.

Thursday I began some new towels - these will have tomatoes on them. Here is a pic a few hours in-

Tomato Dish Towel - started

My husband has been gone on a business trip the past few days, so I did not get too much stitching done. Strange the way that worked…..but I chose to read in the silence of the house instead of stitching.  What am I reading?  Well, I’ve got 3 books going at the same time. I’ve never before read like that. Usually I’m a 1 book kind of gal. But lately I’ve spread my genre-wings.  I’m reading a classic Rabalais- Gargantua & Pantagruel.  This was listed on the 1001 books you must read before you die list.  I’m making my way thru the list slowly!  I also finished Daughter of the Stars by Phyllis Whitney last night.  I just started Bad Heir Day by Wendy Holden. I’ll be trading that one in a PBS swap.

PBS= PaperBackSwap - Swap your used paperback books with other club members. (referrer- dolver) If you sign up, please use me as your referrer. I don’t think we actually get anything—but I’d like to see my name show up in the top 50 Referrerals list!

Beach Scene

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

I just finished this Beach Scene for a customer. 85 + 3/4 hours.  I was really on a roll with this one. Since it was winter, I’d curl up on the couch in front of the fire and stitch for hours! I swear I could hear the waves of the ocean!!!
